A fixture in the Canadian musical landscape for over twenty years, Contrived has garnered a reputation for their live performances, at once unrelenting in their sonic peaks and rigorous in their dynamic detail. While the band initially exhibited early to late 2000’s influences, Contrived returns with ‘Addicted to Sadness’, an eleven song album that strikes a balance between past and future versions of itself. ‘Addicted to Sadness’ will present Contrived fans new and old with a natural progression: a deep attention to musical and melodic interplay woven under sharp and topical lyricism, while maintaining the band’s devotion to masterful songwriting and hallmark sense of spirited urgency.
